Alex Powers: July 2014 Artist of the Month

Alex Powers began his professional career as a painter and a self-employed art teacher in 1970. Recently, Alex stopped painting. He now draws with carbon pencil and pastel. Using a casual sketchbook design, faces and figures primarily serve as his inspiration.

Among his many national juried exhibition awards, Alex won the Gold Medal at the 1997 American Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition. Alex continues to exhibit in the United States and Canada, and he teaches 6 to 8 workshops per year. Also, Alex is the author of Painting People in Watercolor, A Design Approach.
